Orthodontics isn’t just for children—adults benefit too. Proper tooth position supports function and long-term oral health.

Orthodontics isn’t just for children—adults benefit too. Proper tooth position supports function and long-term oral health. A well-aligned smile is easier to clean, lowering the risk of tooth decay and gum disease, and it promotes efficient chewing and a balanced jaw function.

Orthodontic treatment can be valuable at any age—for children (where jaw and tooth growth can be guided) and for adults (for both aesthetic and health reasons).

Orthodontic options by age

Early childhood (0–6 years)
Focus on prevention: early detection of abnormalities and elimination of habits such as mouth-breathing and thumb-sucking. Special trainers and muscle exercises can reduce later problems.

School age (6–12 years)
During the mixed dentition phase, removable appliances are often recommended. These support proper tooth replacement and guide teeth into better positions.

Teen years (14–18 years)
With jaw growth nearly complete, fixed appliances come to the fore. They can achieve more predictable, long-term alignment.

Adulthood
Fixed braces are the most common and effective, but for minor irregularities, removable and more aesthetic options can also work well.At our clinic, we use Invisalign clear aligners and the Damon system—modern, gentle, and highly effective options for discreet, predictable tooth movement.

Invisalign® Clear Aligner Therapy

Invisalign is a digitally planned, 3D-printed sequence of nearly invisible aligners that fits seamlessly into daily life. Aligners are changed weekly or every two weeks and should be worn 22 hours/day (remove only for eating and brushing). Treatment time is often shorter than with traditional braces, and custom staging ensures effective movement.

Benefits of Invisalign

Aesthetic: Transparent, snug-fitting medical-grade plastic—barely noticeable.

Comfortable: No metal ligatures or brackets—fewer sore spots.

Removable & easy to clean: Brush, floss, and clean aligners with ease.

Fast & efficient: Frequent aligner changes can deliver quicker results than traditional braces.

Low discomfort: Gentle forces with small staged movements; you may feel brief pressure when changing trays.

Metal-free: An aesthetic choice and ideal for patients sensitive to metals.

Damon™ System (Self-Ligating Braces)

The Damon system uses low, biologically optimal forces and self-ligating brackets with built-in clips, rather than elastic ties. This reduces friction, allows teeth to move more freely and comfortably, and can shorten treatment time. Available in metal (Damon Q) and clear ceramic (Damon Clear).

Advantages of Damon Braces

  • Often no extractions needed. The system can create space, reducing the need for tooth removal.
  • Gentle forces. Kinder to teeth and jaws; typically less discomfort.
  • Fewer visits. Self-ligating brackets remain effective longer between adjustments.
  • Potentially faster. Lower friction can speed tooth movement.
  • No palatal expander in many cases. Arch development often achieved without bulky appliances.
  • Easier hygiene. No elastic ties that trap plaque.
  • Discreet option. Damon Clear uses translucent brackets for improved aesthetics.

How orthodontic care works at our clinic

Pre-treatment assessment

Whether you choose Invisalign or Damon, we begin with a comprehensive evaluation: panoramic and cephalometric X-rays, a detailed clinical exam, and a review of your goals. We then perform any needed preparatory care—tartar removalfilling caries, or wisdom tooth extraction—to set you up for success.Next, we prepare a detailed treatment plan outlining the appliance type, expected timeline, and costs.

Invisalign: step by step

Impressions & planning. We take a 3D digital scan, create a photo record, and plan the staged tooth movements. Your aligners are then 3D-printed.

Treatment & checks. After ultrasonic cleaning, we place small tooth-coloured attachments to help the aligners grip. You receive your first series of trays and change them as directed until your next review.

Retention. After active treatment, retainers keep teeth in their new positions for long-term stability.

Damon braces: step by step

Bonding. Teeth are cleaned, then self-ligating brackets are bonded to each tooth. Archwires are inserted and secured by the built-in clips for optimal, gentle force distribution.

Follow-ups. Reviews every 4–5 weeks to monitor progress and fine-tune wires/brackets. We also recommend scale & polish every 3 months to maintain excellent hygiene.

Debond & retention. Brackets and wires are removed, teeth are cleaned, and final X-rays taken. We usually provide retainers to preserve your result and prevent relapse.
